Frequently Asked Questions
| What is worship like
at RBC? Worship at RBC is both an event and a lifestyle which seeks to reflect our vision. It is hard to separate the two; one helps foster the other. Our Sunday morning worship service is designed to help people be in communion with God and make a connection with the people of God all so they can be better prepared to go out and care for the world. This is done through a mixture of some traditional hymns as well as newly re-written hymns in addition to current praise and worship music set to a live praise band and several vocalists led by our Worship Leader, Phil Baker. On a regular basis a choir ensemble is featured in our morning worship service for those who enjoy a more traditional feel to their worship experience. We usually have a time of pubic scripture reading and personal testimony by one of our members. We seek to actively engage in times of corporate prayer in our service and to give our membership an opportunity to give back to God through our tithes and offerings. Do you have other services or worship times? Sunday morning is our main time of worship. Our students have an open forum on Sunday nights @ 5:30 where students can ask any question about life and faith and discuss what God’s Word has to say on the matters. The main student worship time is beacon and it meets on Wednesday nights. Games usually begin about 6:00 pm and worship followed by a sermon from Phil begins at 7:00. We do have other opportunities on Wednesday as well, our children’s ministry (Children in Action) meets from 7-8 pm. Our choir meets from 7-8:30 for practice on Thursday evenings (all are welcome). Do you have services in Spanish? We don’t have a Spanish service but we do have a class in Spanish and the sermon outline is in both English and Spanish. Do you have small groups? Yes. We offer several small groups known as Sunday School classes for all ages on Sunday morning at 9:30. We do have some home groups that meet in various homes during the week. We also offer Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University several times a year. A list of those can be obtained from the church office. Is there something for kids? Yes. We do have a nursery and we have classes for children and a special service called Seekers in Sneakers that meets during the adult worship time on Sunday morning. There is a time for children on Wednesday nights called Children in Action as well as field trips, service opportunities, Vacation Bible School and summer camp for kids. What kind of a church is Rittenhouse? Officially we are a Southern Baptist Church. What that means is that we have agreed to pool our financial resources with about 44,000 other churches of various sizes and worship style around the world to help send missionaries to both North America and International locations to tell others about Jesus Christ and help start churches. The people of RBC answer to no other organization; we are known as a free church. That means we govern ourselves and make up our own policies and practices. We do hold some common beliefs with other Southern Baptist Churches. These beliefs can be found in a document known as The Baptist Faith and Message. You can read a copy by going to www.sbc.net.
